I taught myself to hand embroider while working at Saratoga National Historical Park, focusing on 18th century designs. I have since moved on the focus almost exclusively on redwork embroidered portraits. Though I sometimes use colors other than red, the technique and approach remain the same.

So, after admiring this site from afar for over a year, I decided to join. I've really be struggling the last few months & have decided to just take the leap & say loud & proud "My embroidery is art." I've won a few awards, & got rejected by my first juried show. I've increased my blog followers. I post on instagram, flickr, tumblr, twitter, facebook, pinterest... with varying degress of success. I thought this was the next logical step. Maybe I should have started here. Ah, too late now.
